Anduril goes to space 🚀

Here’s one for our VC followers with job boards once again helping us read the tea leaves to company strategy 🍃 A few months back we saw that Scale AI and DeepL are moving towards an IPO through hiring Investor Relations.

Today, we have a significant insight into what is happening at nouveau US defence contractor Anduril - the company co-founded by Oculus VR founder Palmer Luckey.

Anduril already develops a bunch of autonomous hardware, including drones, surveillance systems and even the recently announced submarine - Ghost Shark. They pair these hardware devices with their geo-spatial artificial intelligence management software called Lattice.

We have seen the US Space Force award small 8 figure contracts to have Lattice be used in space. This week we spotted that Anduril is looking to expand on that and develop space hardware with the following job listing coming up:

Anduril - Mechanical Engineer – Space Hardware - Costa Mesa 🇺🇸

Amongst other things, the individual they are looking for will be required to build prototypes, analyze failures, and transition successful prototype designs to flight hardware and low rate production.

From an investor perspective, this opens up a new total addressable market for the company if they are looking to build hardware for space defence systems.

From a civilian perspective, kind of scary that maybe Star Wars is here.
