Groq gets $640M
TechCrunch announced earlier today that AI chip developer Groq secured a funding round of USD $640 million from BlackRock, along with Neuberger Berman, Type One Ventures, Cisco, KDDI, and Samsung Catalyst Fund.
We track job postings at Groq, and the last one, a Senior Systems Software Engineer role posted on July 26th, still appears to be available. We expect to see more roles from them in the near term.
Cohere ramps hiring
Following the announcement of Groq's raise, Canadian enterprise LLM developer Cohere seems to be spending some of the $500 million they raised last month.
We usually see a job or two from them in every newsletter, but today we have five open roles from Cohere in total. Because of this, we have 13 roles in Canada today.
Keep in mind that this was since our last blog on Thursday, so there haven't been many working days in that period. It will be interesting to see if this trend continues at Cohere.
